With so many sources of media fighting for kid’s attention, parents and teachers understandably want to protect them from unhealthy messages. However, the real safety comes when kids feel empowered to make healthy choices for themselves.

I’ve Got the Power celebrates personal power for all ages! It encourages kids to take an active role in what they view or do online. This empowerment helps them make smart choices in every aspect of their lives.

How Does “I’ve Got the Power” Work?

Each morning, students receive a Power Boost—a positive principle of online behavior. Kids memorize the boost as a password to participate in lunchtime activities.

The Power Boosts

  • I have the power to not view embarrassing pictures or share hurtful words.
  • I have the power to tell a trusted adult if anything makes me feel uncomfortable or scared.
  • I have the power to ask before I download.
  • I have the power to turn unsafe media off.
  • I have the power to help those around me make safe choices online.

During the week, teachers lead their students in designing a super-hero with real-life super powers. The week culminates with an interactive martial arts workshop reinforcing the super powers of hard work, self-control, and self-confidence.
